The first of Nammalwar's four works, a hundred verses held by the sampradaya to be the essence of the Rig Veda. It opens with a prayer to be freed from this bodily birth so as to serve the Lord, and most of its verses are in the voice of a girl in love with Him (nayika bhava), of her mother, and of her friend.
