Vyloka (vyloka.in) is a small Sri Vaishnava website. This page explains what we collect when you use it, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
When you read the site. You do not need an account to read Vyloka. Like every website, our server keeps ordinary technical records, such as the internet address a request came from, to keep the site secure and running. To know how many people read the site, the site counts its own page views: each day's visitor becomes a one-way hash of the internet address and browser, with a key that changes every day, so no address is kept and no one can be followed from one day to the next. We count only how many people came, in which language, and which pages they read. We do not use advertising, outside analytics or tracking tools, and this needs no cookie.
When you sign in with Google. To ask Sri Paduka, you sign in with your Google account. Google tells us your name, your email address, the link to your profile picture and your Google account number. We store these on our server so that we know it is you and can count your free questions. We never see or store your Google password.
When you ask Sri Paduka. We keep a record of each question: the question, the answer, the language, the time, and a coded form (a one-way hash) of your account and of your internet address. We use these records to check that answers are accurate and respectful, to correct mistakes and to prevent misuse. The records do not contain your name or your email address.
When you send a question from the FAQ page. We keep your question, the language and the time, and your name and email address if you choose to give them, so that we can answer it and improve the FAQ. A coded form (a one-way hash) of your internet address is kept to prevent misuse. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
When you ask to hear about Sri Paduka membership. We keep your name, email address, language and the time, and any note you add, only to write to you when membership opens. A coded form (a one-way hash) of your internet address is kept to prevent misuse. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
When you join Gosti. When you send the Gosti form we keep your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, the sessions, languages and times you choose, whether you will join with your children, and any note, only to write to you when sessions begin and to plan them. A coded form (a one-way hash) of your internet address is kept to prevent misuse. Once sessions run and you sign in, we also keep the prabandhams you pin, the Abhyasam tracks you join, and the sessions you mark as attended or homework done, so that your dashboard can show them. When planning classes we look only at counts, not at names. You can change your choices at any time, or ask us to delete them.
On your own device. If you mark Divya Desams as visited, that list is kept only in your browser and never reaches our server. If you use "Nearest to me" on the Yatra planner, your location is used inside your browser to sort the list and is not sent to us.
Cookies
We set one cookie, vy_session, and only after you sign in. It keeps you signed in for up to 60 days and is removed when you sign out. Google's sign-in button may set cookies of its own; Google's privacy policy explains them.
Who else handles your data
- Google signs you in. Google's Privacy Policy applies to that.
- Anthropic provides the AI model that writes Sri Paduka's answers. Your question, with the last few questions and answers of the same conversation, is sent to Anthropic to produce the answer. Your name and email address are not sent. Anthropic's commercial terms do not allow it to train its models on this data.
- Brevo delivers the email that tells us a new question has arrived from the FAQ page, or that someone wants to hear about membership, with what you sent and, if you gave them, your name and email address.
- Google Fonts supplies the lettering of the site and OpenStreetMap supplies the maps, so your browser connects to their servers when a page loads.
- Links to Amazon, Notion Press and Google Maps take you to those websites, which have their own policies.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
Your account details and the count of your questions stay until you ask us to delete them. Sri Paduka's question records are kept while they help us check and improve the answers. You can ask us to delete your questions at any time.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and your questions. Write to support@vyloka.com from the email address you sign in with, and we will reply within 30 days. You can also remove Vyloka's access at any time from your Google Account, under Security, in the list of third-party apps and services you have connected.
Children
If you are under 18, please use Sri Paduka with a parent or guardian, who should sign in with their own account.
Security
We keep our server up to date, use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limit who can reach the data. No system is perfectly safe. If something goes wrong that affects your data, we will tell you.
Changes to this page
When we change this page, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we will say so on the Sri Paduka page before it takes effect.
