Tiruppavai 29 · verse 502 of the four thousand
Meaning
Hear why we came so very early to worship You and praise Your golden lotus feet. You were born in our clan, who live by grazing cattle; You cannot refuse to take from us our close, personal service. We have not come just to receive a drum today, Govinda. For all time, for seven times seven births, we will be bound to You alone, and to You alone we will be servants. Take away every other desire of ours. Here the drum is shown to be service to Him.
